On June 13, coinciding with Wuxi’s 19th Environmental Month and linking both World Environment Day (June 5) and China’s National Low-Carbon Day (June 17), Lead Intelligent joined hands with government agencies and partner organizations to launch a dedicated ecological restoration initiative at Gonghu Bay Wetland Park. The program introduced an innovative collaborative model integrating government guidance, corporate funding, professional implementation, charitable support, and public participation, demonstrating a practical commitment to environmental stewardship and regional ecological development.
The initiative was guided by the Wuxi Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, jointly organized by the Xinwu District Charity Association of Wuxi and Lead Intelligent, and implemented by the Wuxi Taihu Carbon Inclusion Green Development Center together with the Wuxi Ecological Wetland Protection and Development Research Association. More than 50 participants—including Lead Intelligent employees, their families, and adult and youth volunteers recruited from the local community—joined the event to help protect the Taihu Lake wetland ecosystem.
During the restoration activity, volunteers focused on underwater vegetation areas in Gonghu Bay Wetland Park that had been damaged by overwintering migratory birds. Together, they planted 10,000 clusters of Vallisneria spinulosa, restoring approximately 250 square meters of submerged vegetation and rebuilding the area’s native aquatic plant ecosystem.
Professional assessments estimate that the restored wetland will sequester approximately 225 kilograms of carbon annually, reaching 2.25 tonnes over the next decade. Beyond carbon capture, the project is expected to enhance the wetland’s natural water purification capacity, strengthen its role as a carbon sink, improve water quality in sections of Taihu Lake, and support biodiversity throughout the watershed.
Alongside the restoration work, an environmental education program highlighted the achievements of Taihu Lake’s long-term ecological rehabilitation efforts. Experts introduced participants to wetland conservation, the science of carbon sequestration, and practical low-carbon lifestyle approaches. Combining hands-on aquatic planting with professional ecological education, the event helped translate environmental awareness into meaningful public engagement while inspiring younger generations to embrace sustainable living.
